Shah Rukh Khan, hailed as one of Bollywood’s greatest actors, wears another hat as the co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite his bustling schedule, Khan remains a steadfast supporter of his team, embodying the role of their biggest cheerleader.

In a recent interview with Star Sports, Khan reminisced about KKR’s tumultuous journey to success. He candidly shared insights into the team’s early struggles, emphasising the importance of patience and perseverance.

Shah Rukh Khan on initial struggling days of KKR

Reflecting on his role within the team, Khan humbly stated, “The first five-six years were very challenging. I am not a cricketer…But I was the 12th man in KKR. As the 12th man, how to go field, serve the water, give the towel, and be able to explain that it is ok, give it time. Everything should be allowed to breathe.”

KKR’s triumphs in the fifth season of IPL in 2012 and again in 2014 marked significant milestones. However, the team has faced dry spells in securing championship titles since then. Despite this, Khan’s dedication to his team remains unwavering, evident in his deep-rooted connection with Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. Drawing parallels between the stadium and his Mumbai residence, Mannat, Khan revealed, “There’s no nervousness… In Eden Gardens, there is a left-side corner that is mine. I feel more than at home, more at family here.”

The Dunki actor also shed light on his further projects. He said, “I just felt like I could take a little rest. I’ve done three films, which also required a lot of physical work. So I thought maybe I’ll take some time off. I told the whole team that I’ll attend the matches. Fortunately, my shooting is in August, or maybe July… we plan in June, so it will start from June. So, I am absolutely free to come to all the matches. I come happily.”

On the work front, Khan gears up for ‘King,’ an action thriller that marks the silver screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh and featuring action sequences overseen by Siddharth Anand, the film promises to captivate audiences with Khan’s signature charisma.
